Pain in Selargius and in the world of Campidanese improvised singing for the death - at just 56 years of age - of Paola Dentoni. A teacher of Sardinian singing , appreciated for her beautiful and unmistakable voice and for the skill with which she could improvise original and never predictable verses.

Paola Dentoni was well known throughout Sardinia. Applauded on the stages during the village festivals, it was also the protagonist for some years of the many poetic competitions dedicated to " su cantu de sei ", organized in Sinnai by the Su Tzinnibiri club. She often performed in the company of her sister Dolores, also a talented cantadora, and her brother Romeo, an accordionist.

The evenings dedicated in particular to "su mutetu froriu", an art learned by the great cantadori Enea Danese since she was a girl, in which she was unsurpassed, will remain memorable. The most beautiful memory is linked to those moments in which he sang wonderful verses with which he gave the audience so much joy, cheerfulness and lightheartedness.

All Sardinian culture must also be grateful to her for her tireless commitment aimed at deepening, especially in recent years, the knowledge of the great heritage of traditional Sardinian song, so that her memory is not lost. With her disappears a valuable artist and a splendid person, who opened the way for women to a world, that of is cantadoris, which seemed precluded to them.

And today it is mourning not only for family members but for all Campidanese improvisers. Cosimo Lai , a cycling champion in the fifties and sixties and a dialect singer for years, also wanted to remember her. "The news of her death saddens me: a great loss for the Sardinian cultural movement. I often sang with her: an extraordinary voice, a great artist." The comment of the Sardinian language teacher Fernando Pisu : "With the death of Paola, the Campidanese song loses a great interpreter. Now it will sing with the angels in heaven. Here it leaves a beautiful memory ".
