Sardinia seen through the eyes of 70 painters of the 19th and 20th centuries. An itinerary with 150 works, which recounts 150 years of nature, cities and towns on the island through images. A comparison between the past and the present with new insights into the protection of the natural heritage and its relationship with the energy transition and renewable energies.
On Friday 21 July at 7 pm in the National Art Gallery of Sassari, the director of the Regional Directorate of Museums, Francesco Muscolino, and the director of the Museum, Maria Paola Dettori, inaugurate the exhibition entitled: “Paesaggi/Landscapes. Sardinia in 19th and 20th century painting" .
On display works, mostly unpublished, by great authors, such as the watercolorist Gaston Vuillier, and still, after almost a hundred years, the canvases by Giovanni Marghinotti, otherwise unusable. The exhibition combines paintings from public collections with works held in private collections, including a small but precious nucleus of drawings by Giuseppe Biasi. The urban view, in particular of Cagliari, is represented by various authors such as Francesca Devoto, Anton Ettore Maury and Felice Melis Marini, as well as that formidable watercolorist who was Stanis Dessy. The works of prominent artists such as Anselmo Bucci, Giuseppe Rivaroli, and Uberto Bonetti will be visible to the public, together with those of Sardinian painters, present in the exhibition with all the masters and many minor painters.
The exhibition, in addition to proposing a broad review of the pictorial genre, offers food for thought and insights into highly topical issues. Conferences on the urban realities of Sardinia in ancient times and on the transformation of cities and their historic centers are scheduled.
