Sardinian IGP lambs sold below cost.

The complaint comes from the Agricultural Studies Center, which in a note by President Tore Piana announced that in Sardinia these days the IGP lambs for slaughter are paid from 2.50 to 2.70 euros per kilo to Sardinian shepherds. A price considered "scandalous and humiliating" for the breeders of the island.

"If you then make a comparison with the prices of lambs for slaughter in the other Regions, reported on the official Ismea website, we realize for example that in Grosseto the price paid to the shepherd is 5.35 euros per kilo, while in the square of Naples the lamb is paid at 5.70 euros per kilo ”, the press release reads again.

"It is evident that with these prices, producing and selling Sardinian IGP lambs in this period is uneconomical for the shepherd of the island", continued Piana, according to whom one can speak of real "unfair competition".

"We urgently ask as the Agricultural Studies Center that the Agnello di Sardegna Igp Consortium intervenes to put an end to this scandalous situation and we reserve the right to consider forwarding a report / complaint to the Ministry of Agricultural Policies through the ICQRF, as required by legislative decree 198 of 8 November 2021 relating to unfair practices, to put an end in Sardinia to this scandalous situation against Sardinians ”: this is the final appeal launched by the organization.
