Sardinian craftsmanship beats multinationals . With 64,197 workers , Sardinian artisan employment is triple that of Italian multinationals , with 18,339 workers, and foreign ones , with 18,339 workers, which in total have 40,430 employees .

This is what emerges from the dossier on the "Key data of artisan culture", prepared by the Research Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, on the latest Istat data.

According to the analysis, the island shows a clear prevalence of employment in crafts compared to that in multinational groups , of Italian or foreign origin.

With over 64 thousand artisan workers, the region also has almost triple the employment with a percentage gap of +190.6%.

In the Italian ranking on the predominance of artisan workers compared to large groups, the island is second while in first place we find Calabria with +230% .

«There is a combination of structural, cultural and regulatory factors that contributes to the predominance of Sardinian artisan companies compared to the multinational system - comment Giacomo Meloni and Daniele Serra, president and secretary of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna - small companies tend to be more flexible compared to large multinational companies, they adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs, remaining competitive even in uncertain economic contexts". «The Sardinian MPIs oversee sectors of great importance for the Sardinian economy, among which we remember those of fashion, food, tourist and personal services, the transport of goods and people - continues Meloni - a widespread presence of businesses is based on a strong entrepreneurial culture, with a higher propensity for independent work than the European average".

«We remember that small businesses make up for the lack of economies of scale through business networks - underlines the Regional Secretary, Daniele Serra - increasing their competitiveness through collaboration with other businesses. These networks foster the development of SMEs, creating synergies that can be difficult for multinationals to replicate."
