"Urban regeneration work and projects continue in Cagliari." With these words, Mayor Massimo Zedda announced the start of a new season of construction work that, between the end of 2025 and the first few months of 2026, will transform several city neighborhoods.
"As soon as we win the new contracts," the mayor explained, "we will be able to redevelop areas currently lacking roads, sidewalks, street lighting, and green spaces. At the same time, we will continue to maintain and improve what already exists, in all the city's neighborhoods."
The overall plan, costing more than €60 million, addresses some of the capital's key areas, with interventions aimed at combining urban decor, sustainability, and services.
Urban regeneration continues in Sant'Elia following the completion of underground utilities work. The project, funded with €13.5 million, includes the demolition of illegal structures , the environmental remediation of the Del Favero and Lame building complexes, and the creation of new green spaces and social areas.
After years of litigation, a new phase has begun for Monreale , where the administration has met with the neighborhood committee to develop a plan of interventions that includes the redevelopment of public green spaces, the enhancement of sports facilities, new lighting, and improved traffic flow. The project is valued at €2.39 million, with €480,000 in co-financing from the municipality.
Work on the redevelopment of the San Benedetto market, one of the city's iconic landmarks, continues according to schedule . The €31 million project includes both internal and external improvements, aiming to provide residents and traders with a modern, sustainable, and functional market.
In Stampace, two strategic projects are planned : €10 million for the second lot of Viale Trieste and €11 million for Viale Merello. Both construction sites will begin in the first half of 2026, completing the major urban works already underway.
