A contribution of 20,000 euros for those under 40 who choose to transfer their residence to Sardinia to work or start a business, which rises to 30,000 euros for those who decide to settle in a municipality with fewer than five thousand inhabitants .

The Regional Council has defined the requirements and criteria for accessing incentives intended to encourage the return of young Sardinians and the arrival of new residents, with particular attention to small municipalities.

"The return of young people to Sardinia is going through a decisive transition. We have established in the Council who will be able to access the incentives, with what requirements and under what conditions", declares the President of the Region Alessandra Todde .

The measure is aimed at young people under 40 who work or run businesses in Sardinia and who commit to transferring their residence to the island within six months of qualifying for the benefit. Those who have already transferred their residence to Sardinia during 2026 will also be eligible for the incentives.

In both cases, it will be necessary to maintain it for at least five years. Among the priority criteria identified by the Regional Council are the return of young Sardinians, employment and business projects, the relocation of families, and the selection of municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

The project aims to encourage the return of young people who have left Sardinia, support new job and entrepreneurial opportunities, and combat depopulation, particularly by encouraging them to settle in small towns. "The next step will be the preparation of the public notice that will define the application procedures," explains Todde. "Because leaving should always be an option, but returning must become a viable choice."
