The mobilization is part of the mission of the association, active since 2019, to combat plastic pollution and promote virtuous behavior. The collection days in Sardinia are confirmed: April 26 in Cagliari, Oristano, Aglientu, Castelsardo, Osilo, San Teodoro, Sorso; April 27 in Sestu, Ales, Iglesias, Teulada, Badesi, Budoni, Porto Torres, San Teodoro, Santa Teresa Gallura, Sassari and Nuoro. The events in Golfo Aranci and Elmas have been cancelled and postponed .
"As the regional representative for Sardinia, I can only be proud of the work we are carrying out together, with passion and determination," says Francesca Carone, regional representative for Plastic Free for Sardinia. "This extraordinary land, rich in natural beauty, breathtaking coasts and a biodiversity that must be protected, deserves all our commitment. And knowing that so many of us, from North to South of the island, are united to do our part is a huge emotion. A special thanks to all the provincial and municipal representatives, to the volunteers and to those who choose to get involved every day. Our actions speak clearly: Sardinia is here and makes a difference! I thank the regional vice-representative Andrea Pigato and in advance all those who will participate in these collections despite the holidays. Let's continue like this, together, for an increasingly plastic free future!"
The activities will be carried out with the support of Treedom, an Italian BCorp and sustainability partner of the initiative. The collaboration will allow, in support of the environmental activities of the association, to plant trees. Plastic Free Onlus, to date, has involved over 260,000 volunteers, collected 4.4 million kilos of waste, and carried out more than 7,800 environmental clean-up appointments . In Sardinia alone, since the beginning of the year, 41 appointments have been held, involving 500 people and removing approximately 17,400 kilos of plastic and waste. In addition, almost 600 students have attended awareness-raising lessons.
" As every year, we will actively involve over 10,000 volunteers in two days of pure energy, sharing and concrete actions to leave a positive mark on the Planet ," explains Luca De Gaetano, founder and president of Plastic Free Onlus. "Anyone can register for free by choosing the closest appointment on the Events page of our website."
