Sardinia shines on the international dancesport scene. A major achievement was achieved by the young dancer from Macomer, 15-year-old Giada Demurtas, who elevated Sardinian dancesport to the top at the Ido World Latin Style Championships, held in Poland. Giada Demurtas won two important awards, an individual bronze medal and a prestigious gold medal in a duo with the young dancer from Sassari, Giulia Sacco.
An extraordinary achievement, in the Under 16 category, Giada achieved third place overall in the combined rankings of the five Latin disciplines: Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Paso Doble, and Jive. Giada competed in a top-level competition, with participants from all over the world, where the young woman from Macomer distinguished herself with her technique, expressiveness, and great determination.
A well-deserved bronze, but the real triumph came in the pairs competition. Together with Giulia Sacco, with whom she shares training and passion, they won the title of World Champions in the Latin Synchro Duo, winning the three disciplines of Samba, Rumba, and Cha Cha Cha. A success that speaks of perfect harmony and teamwork. The two dancers were trained by the International Dancing Stars school, led by instructors Giuseppe Brocchi and Valeria Poddighe, a long-time benchmark for dancesport in Sardinia and increasingly recognized internationally. The Sardinian team also celebrated the gold medal won by another pair: Luca Sechi and Luca Ferrari, who also competed at the World Championships. These extraordinary results are not only a source of pride for their families and coaches, but also a strong signal that dancesport in Sardinia is alive and well, growing in quality and looking to the future. With decisive strides.
