Acquitted because there was no evidence of wrongdoing in the death of Gianuario Derudas, who died in Sassari on October 15, 2021, crushed by the forklift he was using at the municipal recycling center on Via Ariosto. This was the decision of Judge Paolo Bulla, appearing in court today in Sassari, in the trial in which Enrico Besta and Stefano Moro, executives of Ambiente Italia, the company that manages the municipality's waste collection and urban hygiene services, were charged with manslaughter.
The magistrate had ordered an expert assessment in recent months regarding two critical points: the use of seat belts and the slope on which the vehicle had been driven. The examination found no irregularities, and at the September hearing, prosecutor Paolo Piras requested a doubtful acquittal, while defense attorney Massimo Pellicciotto requested a full acquittal.
