Violence and arrest. A 33-year-old man from Sassari was arrested in Bancali on charges of mistreatment and assault against his 40-year-old partner.
The man's arrest was validated in court in Sassari by preliminary hearing judge Sergio De Luca, who deemed there was evidence of his guilt.
According to the charges, the man, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, had previously attacked the woman on several occasions and, after yet another argument, had forced her out of the house in the historic center.
When she returned to retrieve the dog, another fight broke out, with screams so loud that neighbors were alarmed that they alerted the State Police . The patrol car responded to the scene, but no one answered the calls, while the dog could be heard barking inside.
The fire department was also called to gain access to the apartment, and the 33-year-old finally opened the door. At that point, the officers noticed the woman with visible bruises on her face, allegedly the result of several punches.
The woman was taken to the emergency room for this reason, while the man was arrested.
Yesterday, a summary hearing was held, where the Sassari native, represented by public defender Bastianino Ventura, denied the charges. However, the preliminary hearing judge, also following the request of prosecutor Lara Senatore, confirmed the arrest and ordered his transfer to Bancali prison.
