Michele Vannini, national secretary of the CGIL civil service, is meeting with workers at the Giovanni Paolo Secondo hospital in Olbia. Also present are the union's provincial leaders, Paolo Dettori and Jessica Cardia.
Meetings held in Tempio and La Maddalena also revealed a tense situation due to staff overwork.
But there is also serious concern about the inspections already conducted by regional health department officials at the La Maddalena and Tempio hospitals, with the prospect of their radical transformation. There is talk of opening community hospitals that will eventually replace the services and departments of the Paolo Dettori and Paolo Merlo hospitals.
The provincial secretary of the CGIL Fp, Paolo Dettori, has already initiated a heated discussion with the Sassari prefecture, denouncing the dramatic problems facing the Gallura healthcare system. The union, along with the UIL, is ready to strike.
