Fear is rife in Villasimius, where the mistral wind is causing extensive damage. The worst incident occurred at the comprehensive school: the strong winds, according to reports, tore off the roof of the building housing the elementary school classrooms. The children were absent from the building, where they were busy with the Carnival celebrations. However, the debris—which also contained photovoltaic panels—reached the middle school classrooms. Students were still attending classes there.

Some windows were hit, and the alarm went off inside. School staff immediately took action to move the students to a safe area of the building and protect them from any flying glass.

The exit was blocked for a long time, because the situation outside was anything but safe.

The Carabinieri and the firefighters also arrived on the scene: the parents went to collect their children and many decided to take them home, declaring that they did so under their own responsibility, while outside the mistral continued to rage.

The debris also damaged some of the teachers' cars, who did everything they could to protect the students' safety.

Also in Villasimius, strong winds uprooted some large pine trees.
