An open letter to President Christian Solinas and to the entire Regional Council from the Coordination of Sardinian Territorial Committees against energy speculation , announcing a protest sit-in tomorrow at 9.30 in the headquarters of the Sardinian Assembly.

The object is the "overbearing invasion" of new wind farms on the island , with the new connection requests which as at 30 June 2023 reached "the incredible number of 718 for a total power of 56.08 GW" and which are going to " add to existing plants and those already authorised.'

The Coordination's request is to " approve an urgent law for a moratorium on the authorizations of any type of plant and infrastructure for energy production and the construction of transmission networks ", which has " immediate effect " and which arrives " pending the elaboration of a regional environmental energy plan ».

Furthermore, in the light of "the national government decree being published and which assigns a share of renewables to Sardinia (6 GW by 2030)" and "requires the regions to legislate for the identification of suitable sites within 180 days of publication of the decree», the request is also «to carry out an analysis of the real needs » on the basis of concrete objectives defined in a « comparison with local autonomies and citizens' committees » for the identification of the areas destined to host the plants and « allocate adequate financial resources from the region's budget for the promotion and financing of energy communities and for the study of inter-municipal SEAPs (Sustainable Energy Action Plans) for the creation of energy districts targeting the public and private sectors for 'sustainable use of local resources'.
