Twenty-nine euros less for a family of four living in a 70-square-meter apartment, 44 euros less for a bar, and a 15-euro cut for a professional studio.

These are the new rates for the Tarip waste tax, approved yesterday by the Nuoro City Council. In most cases, they provide a reduction for families and businesses in the city .

This result was achieved thanks to the reduction in variable costs, made possible by citizens' commitment to separate waste collection and the resulting reduction in the amount of unsorted waste disposed of. The reduction resulting from this virtuous behavior is directly reflected in household and business bills, despite the increase in fixed costs of the service, determined by external and independent factors.

Simulations conducted on the new tariffs confirm a widespread reduction. For example, a family of six living in 70 square meters will save over 48 euros, a reduction of more than 10 percent .

Economic activities will also benefit from a general reduction in rates: a typical restaurant will pay around 58 euros less than in 2025 .

A result that had also been hoped for by the Reformists a few days ago. "The City Council has brought good news for Nuoro," said Mayor Emiliano Fenu . "Reducing the Tari (waste tax) in a context of rising fixed costs was by no means a given. We succeeded thanks to the civic-mindedness of the people of Nuoro. It was only right that this result translate into concrete benefits for families and businesses."

But that's not all. From the Environment Commission, Councilor Annalisa Canova emphasizes that "a more significant result could be achieved with more information. Often, we differentiate, but mistakes are made that undermine the result itself and could compromise the very result of the citizen's efforts," she said, giving the example of a glass jar containing liquid that is considered unsorted due to its contents.

The measure's approval, which passed with 20 votes in favor, including from the minority, was preceded by careful review by municipal offices and the Budget Committee chaired by Marco Zedda.
