The costs incurred by Sardinian families for waste disposal fees increased by 4.6% compared to 2023: on average in 2024 the expense was 363 euros compared to 347 euros in the previous year.

This is what emerges from the “2024 Report of the Prices and Tariffs Observatory” presented by the Cittadinanzattiva association.

The differences between the individual provincial capitals stand out: 465 euros in Cagliari (+13.3%), 292 euros in Oristano (-1.6%), 315 euros in Sassari (-0.5%), while in Carbonia the increase was a good 10.3% (from 373 in 2023 to 411 euros in 2024).

At the national level, spending stands at 329 euros, with an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous year. With respect to separate waste collection, in 2022, albeit with a ten-year delay compared to what is foreseen by European legislation, the objective of 65% of waste separated at the national level was exceeded.

Even in Sardinia the objective was exceeded: the level of separate waste collection is 75.9%, with some disparity between the individual capitals. It ranges from 83.8% in Nuoro to 62.6% in Sassari. In the middle Oristano with 80.6%, Cagliari with 74.8%.

The survey involved waste disposal rates applied in all Italian provincial capitals in 2024, and took as a reference a typical family of 3 people and a 100 square meter home. The costs detected include VAT (where applicable) and provincial surcharges.
