Two women injured and two cars damaged. This is the balance of the accident that took place shortly after 7 pm at the crossroads for Bancali, at the intersection between the ex 131 and the provincial road 56, on the border between Sassari and Porto Torres.
From an initial reconstruction, the collision between the two cars would have occurred due to a lack of precedence, in one of the most critical points of the road that connects the two municipalities, where yet another accident has occurred.
A Nissan Qashqai carrying two people was proceeding from Sassari in the direction of Porto Torres, when a BMW 320d carrying four people, probably without respecting the stop sign, suddenly emerged from provincial road 56 and the impact was inevitable. The BMW ended up on the central reservation area, knocking down three road signs.
The consequences could have been much more serious. The two women, Spanish tourists aged 65 and 33 respectively, passengers of the BMW, suffered the worst. They were immediately rescued by the 118 health workers who arrived on the spot aboard two ambulances, Avis Porto Torres and Soccorso Sassari. Promptly transferred to the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari, their conditions would not be serious. The firefighters of the Porto Torres department and the local police officers of Sassari and Porto Torres also intervened in the emergency.
The construction of a roundabout is expected at the junction, thanks to a 600 thousand euro project planned by the Province to regulate traffic.
