Enough abuse. The day against violence against women takes on a special meaning in light of the latest femicides and the latest sentences, to which today will be added that for the murder of Giulia Tramontano. Events will take place throughout the country and Sardinia could not remain silent.

The Carabinieri

The Cagliari provincial command of the Carabinieri has a rich program of initiatives. Since January, they have responded to over 320 requests for intervention for events attributable to gender violence, activating the Red Code 400 times. Over 670 crimes have been contested, among which the most recurring are mistreatment against family members, stalking, threats and aggravated personal injury. In the most serious cases, the reports have led to the application of precautionary measures on more than 60 occasions, including over 40 arrests.

The initiatives

Today in Giba, in the elementary school of via Umberto I, a meeting involving students and local authorities to discuss the value of gender equality and mutual respect. In Masainas, in the elementary school of via Municipio, the Carabinieri talk about the importance of prevention and the signs to recognize to avoid situations of violence. In the linear park of Selargius, the planting of a mimosa tree, a symbol of hope and rebirth, to remember all the victims of violence and reaffirm the commitment of the Arma in combating the phenomenon. In Quartu, in piazza XXV Aprile, a march open to the entire community to say "No" to violence against women. Initiatives also in Carbonia, Iglesias, Burcei, Gonnesa, Lunamatrona, Muravera.
