On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the initiative "Nessuno è straniero all'Umanità", promoted by the regional Department of Labor with CREI-ACLI and ACLI Sardegna, aims to raise awareness among young people and adults with various events taking place throughout the day on the Island.

In Cagliari, at the Acli headquarters in via Roma, a direct and intense discussion on gender violence is taking place. The dramatic numbers were presented by Vania Statzu of Acli,
while Simona Murtas, a psychotherapist from the Diocesan Caritas, described the physical and psychological devastation experienced by women who are victims of trafficking.

"Today, November 25, 2024, is a sad day for Sardinia . Femicides on our island have increased by 200% this year ," said the regional councilor for Labor, Desirè Manca. "These alarming data - she continues - force us to reflect on the tools that we can and must put in place to stop this massacre."

A plague that Sardinia knows all too well. The Island is, in fact, in shock over the brutal femicide of Francesca Deidda . The national context is no less worrying. Between January 1st and October 10th 2024, 104 femicides were recorded in Italy, with Sardinia counting 6 victims: numbers that weigh like a millstone on a society where murders are decreasing, but feminicides are increasing.

Today is not just a moment of denunciation, but also an invitation to a profound cultural change. Through initiatives such as “Nessuno è straniero all'Umanità”, we aim to involve the community in a collective action that focuses on education, listening and support.
