Cars will be banned from the center of Villasimius until September 30th between 7:30 PM and 1:00 AM. The limited traffic zone extends from the Via del Mare roundabout on one side to Via Regina Margherita on the other (the intersection with Via Umberto and Via Giardini). The ordinance was signed by Mayor Gianluca Dessì (who has also been serving as the local police chief during these months). "As in previous years," Dessì explained, "we are trying to meet the needs of both businesses and residents."

The goal, among other things, is to "create the conditions for traditional tourist and hospitality activities during the summer season and still guarantee spaces to safeguard the evening stroll that takes place during the summer." But also "to further enhance the quality of the historic center and strengthen its role as a natural shopping center, a place of memory, a cultural reference point as well as a place of social gathering." The ban also applies to scooters, overboards, and Segways.

In conjunction with the ZTL, the shuttle service to the beaches (Summer Bus) started operating, operated by the in-house company Villasimius Srl. It runs every hour from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. There are twenty-two stops between one terminus and the next.
