Villaputzu: Road markings reappear on the new 125 (but protests persist).
Restoration work after two months of disputesPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
After two months (and numerous protests) , ANAS has installed road markings along the 125 Var highway near Quirra. This stretch, several kilometers long, was quite dangerous because the asphalt had been resurfaced without the white lines.
Motorists in transit, especially at sunset, found themselves faced with a huge black patch with no landmarks. Fortunately, in the last three weeks, with all the traffic between Villaputzu and Sarrabus (a mandatory route since the raised road over the Flumendosa was closed on January 18th), no accidents have occurred.
But protests over the disastrous road system —despite repairs in recent days— are not abating. The management of the old Orientale Sarda highway, also in the stretch between Villaputzu and the new 125, is particularly under fire. Inadequate signage (with faded lines) has been compounded by deep and treacherous potholes. Hundreds of motorists are complaining about damage to their vehicles and the risk of accidents. Since the Province of Southern Sardinia was abolished, the road has been under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, as has the iron bridge, which has been closed for repairs (which, however, are at a standstill) for over two years.
A situation that is no longer sustainable for commuters forced to take long and treacherous detours (forty kilometers instead of three, even four times a day) just to get to work.
