An inspection will soon be carried out on the stretch of the former Eastern Sardinian road at the level of the iron bridge which has been closed since November . The regional councilor for public works and Anas officials will arrive to verify the alternative solution (the arrangement of the ford on the Flumendosa to allow motorists to overcome the bridge obstacle without today's inconveniences). Inconveniences mainly related to dust.

As is known , the Regional Council, on the proposal of the Councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu, has approved an important measure that will allow the Municipality of Villaputzu to carry out the provisional interventions for the crossing of the Flumendosa river with a ford . An alternative road system following the closure of the iron bridge in the former SS 125 which occurred in December 2023.

The resolution of the Council consists of a delegation to the Municipality of Villaputzu to carry out the work through the withdrawal of 200,000 euros from the overall financing of one million and 263 thousand euros already granted to the Province of Southern Sardinia in the month of February for the construction of the alternative road system.

«This news, which we have been awaiting with trepidation, represents a real turning point for our municipality and the entire community » declared Mayor Sandro Porcu , «and will finally allow us to alleviate the serious difficulties we are suffering since the closure of the bridge . The construction of the ford will allow us to reach the Sarrabus towns and the new SS 125 in a very short time and safely, significantly shortening the travel distance. It will finally allow us to give certain and concrete answers to citizens and to regain our right to mobility denied for too many months. During the construction of the work we will ask to immediately restore the signs indicating Villaputzu and the tourist resort of Porto Corallo, signs that had been removed or obscured following the closure of the bridge".

«I must publicly thank President Todde, the entire Council and in particular the Councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu – continues Porcu – for having found the solutions in a very short time and immediately taking action to respond positively to our requests. In addition to this first and important provision, the Councilor for Public Works Piu has undertaken to immediately verify with ANAS the feasibility of creating a definitive junction on the new SS 125 near Sant'Angelo, transforming the temporary link road planned as alternative road system in a real definitive junction to be included in the road infrastructure plan under the responsibility of ANAS.

In this regard, a joint inspection by the councilor and ANAS is expected soon in Villaputzu.
