Villaputzu, a giant mural to pay homage to the master of launeddas Efisio Melis

In Villaputzu, the town of the launeddas, the mural of the "master of masters" (this is the writing that appears on the wall) of the launeddas, Efisio Melis (1890-1970), was inaugurated. It was created by another master, the painter Stefano Pani, on the proposal of the Villaputzu players and with the contribution of the Municipality.
«I am honored – said Pani – to have been able to represent what is a symbol for Villaputzu and Sardinia. Right here, among other things, I lived my childhood. Thanks to the launeddas players, to the mayor Sandro Porcu and to the Municipality who gave me the job and thanks to the owner of the wall for making it available."
The wall is located on the corner between via Giardini and via Nazionale and is clearly visible to anyone passing through those parts. The mural was inaugurated on the occasion of the 17th edition of the Launeddas Festival, one of the most popular events of the Sarrabese summer which ended on Sunday 4 August with great public success.
