Without his knowledge , they had turned the shed on his farm into a marijuana greenhouse.
The owner discovered it yesterday in Funtana Saddi, Villacidro. He hadn't been in the area for some time after moving to the city. He had gone to check on his belongings. But when he tried to open the structure used as a tool shed, he found it padlocked.
Concerned about what might be hidden inside, he called the Carabinieri. Officers from the Operations and Mobile Unit of the Villacidro Company, assisted by officers from the local station, immediately arrived on the scene.
After removing the padlock, the Carabinieri opened the garage door and found the fruits of an Indian hemp crop being processed inside.
Specifically, approximately 400 plants and plant parts with inflorescences were found, hanging from long wires for drying, as well as four cardboard animal feed bags containing a total of 20 kilograms of dried narcotics. Various materials used for processing the narcotics were also found inside the shed.
The Carabinieri have begun investigations to track down those responsible for the illegal cultivation.
