A plea for strength, addressed to parents and family members. And a plea to the shooter to repent for their senseless act. Father Giovanni Cuccu, parish priest of the Church of Santa Barbara in Villacidro, spoke before thousands of people: a large building, but not large enough to accommodate all those who wished to bid a final farewell to Leonardo Mocci, the twenty-three-year-old killed by a gunshot in the night between Wednesday and Thursday in Montserrat .

A crime currently being investigated by the Carabinieri and the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office. While the investigation continues to identify the killer and explain the tragedy, Villacidro was a day of mourning.

Mayor Federico Sollai declared a day of mourning for the city. He was also present in the church pews, along with his colleague from Monserrato , Tomaso Locci.

A multitude of young people surrounded them. And many were also the wreaths of flowers. From friends and some sports clubs: Leonardo Mocci was an athlete. And perhaps also because of his physical prowess, he ended up alongside a friend that night in Monserrato , paying for his support with his life.

As the coffin emerged, the churchyard of Santa Barbara was covered in smoke, while dozens of white balloons rose into the sky.
