An oasis of opportunity just steps from the town center, a two-hectare green space where you can practice various sports, attend shows and cultural events, but also walk your dog and host barbecues: the Rio Mannu River Park is poised to become the ideal place for residents of Villa San Pietro and neighboring towns.

On the access road to State Road 195, next to the bike path leading to the entrance to Gutturu Mannu Park, the park, built by the Municipality with €2 million in National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) funds, will be granted to private individuals . The tender for the entire area expires on August 5th. Mayor Marina Madeddu explains how the park will change the lives of residents: "We ask above all that whoever manages these spaces guarantee their constant openness to the public, especially during the summer. The tender includes the management of the padel court we built, plus the one already in place to be completed by the private sector, and a refreshment stand. The concession will last 15 years."

An orchard and an urban garden, a dog walk area, a small basketball court and an open-air gym, a climbing wall, a barbecue area, and a small amphitheater: the River Park will offer many opportunities . "With this project, we achieved two goals," says Mayor Madeddu. "On the one hand, we managed to reclaim an abandoned area of scrub and reeds, and on the other, we managed to create a recreational area designed for residents of all ages. Improving the quality of life for residents also depends on projects like this."

Silvio Persico, Councilor for Public Works, explains the details of this small green oasis: "The project involved the overall redevelopment of the area through the creation of pedestrian paths that ensure full accessibility and connectivity between the different areas of the park. The usability is further enhanced by the presence of numerous trees and flowers, which provide shade, climate comfort, and a sensory experience enriched by seasonal blooms . The work also included the installation of benches, litter bins, fountains, and fences, as well as technological systems, including a well-fed irrigation system, video surveillance, a photovoltaic system, and lighting with twilight sensors, all designed in compliance with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability criteria."
