Work has been underway on Via Galvani in Cagliari for about ten days, and with it, traffic disruptions. The lane leading to Viale Marconi has been closed, and drivers, weaving through traffic, are forced to find alternative routes to turn around or reach the city's main artery . This is due to Abbanoa repairing a sewer pipe near the intersection with Via Mercalli. Between unsuspecting vehicles entering the road the wrong way and the passing metro, the intersection becomes congested during rush hour, creating significant difficulties for those traveling along the street.

But for those who live and work on Via Galvani, the problem mostly concerns Via Mercalli. "Until they fix the road, there will always be chaos," explains Valentina Gaviano of the Riva del Sole bar, just a few dozen meters from the tracks. "The work makes the situation worse because of the lack of road markings, and those arriving from Viale Marconi are forced to start the curve on the metro tracks to get some visibility." Gaviano adds that, beyond the traffic congestion, the construction site doesn't directly affect their business, but "you only need to stay there for two minutes to see the disaster."

In recent days, a fiber optic cable also broke, causing disruption to some businesses in the area.

Abbanoa announced that the project, which covers an 80-meter area, involves replacing the sewer pipe . "Traffic was diverted along that stretch of road during construction work on Viale Marconi, and due to its excessive weight, the pipe kept breaking," the manager explains. "That's why we decided to replace it." Regarding the fiber optic cable: "The cable was laid only 10 centimeters deep, which is why it broke. The workers fixed the problem the same day." According to Abbanoa's estimates, the work should be completed within the next week.
