Francesca Ghirra , deputy of the Green Left Alliance, presented a question to the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy on the Sanac dispute, the company controlled by the department in extraordinary administration since January 2015, which supplies refractory materials essential for the processes of steel production .

"Despite the condition of extraordinary administration does not allow development investments over time, Sanac is a healthy group, which has achieved excellent results from an economic and production point of view, closing the 2021 financial statements with 4 million profits, + 20% production, + 30% of turnover and the stabilization of 12 workers ", underlines.

"In 2018 an agreement with the Franco-Indian giant of Arcelor Mittal on the management of the former Ilva steel mills had opened a window on the definitive corporate structure and consequent job stability for the approximately 300 employees of the Group - he says -. But the acquisition did not it has never been perfected and today Sanac is on sale again, with the result that there are no certainties about the group's production prospects and concerns about employment repercussions in the Vercelli, Savona, Massa Carrara and Cagliari plants are heightened ".

"The lack of interest of the institutions in the Sanac dispute has increased the unease among the workers , towards whom the use of social safety nets is increasingly massive, which is reaching peaks of 60/70%", continues Ghirra.

Then the question to the ministry "to find out what initiatives it intends to undertake to safeguard employment levels, as well as a fundamental piece of the national economy represented by the steel industry, of which Sanac is a fundamental pillar".
