A large fire broke out in the afternoon in the Bonorva area: the intervention of two Canadair CL 415 firefighters who took off from Ciampino airport was necessary to put it out.

The intervention from above - sent from the Peninsula due to the lack of helicopters in Sardinia - avoided the worst: a hectare of vegetation went up in smoke, including scrub, grasses and bramble bushes.

The fire broke out around 1pm in the locality of Rebeccu, in Bonorva, near the road that leads to Giave, an inaccessible area which forced the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps to contact the operations room of the national civil protection department.

The response was immediate with the sending of two aircraft to support the teams on the ground coming from Ozieri, Thiesi and Bonorva, together with the workers of the Forestas regional agency.

The two Canadians fished in the sea off Bosa. Only after a few hours were the flames put out, an extinguishing operation that allowed the fire to be stopped before reaching the Campeda plateau. The two aircraft then returned to base.
