Vandals are still attacking the urban centre of Olmedo , a 3000 square metre green space equipped with benches, inaugurated in the Su Furraghe neighbourhood just last July.

This morning, maintenance workers reported a destroyed tree and the damage to several plants , as well as the presence of numerous cigarette butts, bicycle tracks inside the park, and the widespread presence of rubbish, scattered everywhere.

"It is with great sadness that I must report further instances of incivility," commented Mayor Toni Faedda . "I cannot hide my sadness at the disrespect and even damage to public property created with great human and financial commitment."

Municipal police officers are working to examine the footage from the security cameras in the park to identify those responsible. "I have instructed them to implement a video surveillance system ," the mayor added, "to ensure the protection of public areas and punish violations of the park's proper use regulations."

Just yesterday, Wednesday, August 26th, another act of vandalism occurred against benches in Nostra Signora di Talia park. "However, we do not want to surrender to degradation and neglect," Mayor Faedda emphasized. "The Administration will do everything necessary to ensure compliance with the law, but such actions will be useless if not accompanied by the active participation of the community in preserving public assets and the constant encouragement of our children to respect the most basic rules of civic duty."
