Fears erupted in Valledoria following a fire in a home where a 78-year-old woman lives. The blaze started accidentally on Tuesday afternoon, January 27th. Following the alarm, the Carabinieri and emergency services responded to the scene.

The soldiers managed to gain access by forcing open the front door, finding the tenant on the floor, immobilized by a violent fall that likely caused a fractured femur . The timely intervention of the soldiers and medical workers averted the worst.

The elderly woman was carried out of the apartment and then airlifted to the emergency room in Sassari. Her life is not in danger.

The Tempio Pausania firefighters also responded to the scene to put out the flames. After initial investigations, it was determined that the smoke, which quickly engulfed the entire building, was caused by a small saucepan left burning on one of the stove burners.
