An autopsy will be performed on Monday on Valeria Sollai, the 62-year-old woman who died during the night between Monday and Tuesday at the Monserrato Polyclinic, where she had been hospitalized in intensive care since the end of July. Investigators suspect she was poisoned after eating a guacamole sandwich at the Fiesta Latina in Monserrato, which was found to be contaminated with botulinum toxin. She is the second victim, following Roberta Pitzalis, who died on August 8th at the Businco Hospital in Cagliari.

Meanwhile, the victim's family will appoint an expert witness to clarify the circumstances of her death. The relatives, still deeply distraught, emphasize that Valeria's condition seemed to be significantly improving: on Monday evening, they say, there was even talk of a possible transfer to rehab. Then, in the hours that followed, her condition suddenly deteriorated and she died.

The autopsy will determine whether the death was directly caused by food poisoning or whether complications that arose during hospitalization played a role. Valeria Sollai leaves behind her husband, Angelo Aru, and a son, Alessandro, a Carabiniere serving in Campania.
