After the mosaics created to pay homage to Max Pezzali, former frontman of 883, and to sports champions Jannik Sinner, Gianfranco Zola and Alessia Orro, Lego builder, Maurizio Lampis has composed his latest work dedicated to Velentino Rossi .

This is a Lego reproduction of the photograph taken after the historic victory in the South African Grand Prix in Welkom on April 18, 2004, which became famous for its kiss and bow to the motorcycle. Lampis built the 89x63 centimeter piece in about a month using 8,000 bricks .

The mosaic will be exhibited for the first time ever in Cagliari during the "Brick Art Exhibition" event, which will run from Friday, April 24th to May 14th. All of Lampis's works made with Lego bricks will be on display at Search (inside the town hall).

A prominent place will be reserved for the work dedicated to Saint Efisio , as could not be otherwise given the period that falls during the feast day dedicated to the warrior martyr. It will be accompanied by over 50 works created with a total of over a million Lego bricks. "We are pleased to host a Cagliari-born artist like Maurizio Lampis, and I hope that in the future," said City Council President Marco Benucci , "the Palazzo Bacaredda can also be reproduced with Lego bricks, perhaps next year on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of its construction."

"This is an opportunity," added Councilor for Culture Maria Francesca Chiappe , "not just about culture but also about knowledge, given that monuments from Sardinia and around the world are reproduced."

Among the works, standouts include the half-length bust of Gigi Riva, autographed by Rombo di tuono , St. Mark's Square in Venice made from over 169,000 bricks, and 20 Sardinian monuments depicting some of the island's most evocative locations. "The most recent commission," Maurizio Lampis explained at a press conference, "was the Sanluri Castle. But there are many other works depicting iconic locations in Sardinia, Italy, and the world." Among them, the Taj Mahal and a life-size reproduction of a London telephone booth stand out.
