Community immunity in Sardinia can be achieved by the end of the year. This is the expectation of the Department of Health and Ats, provided that a variant of Covid that is more severe than the Delta does not appear. The safety threshold to stem the circulation of the virus is considered to be that of 90 percent of the vaccinated population.
This year, remaining in the field of prudence as always, Christmas seems to be able to be spent with the family, a tradition that in 2020 due to a series of restrictions it was not possible to respect.
In the island, looking at the data from the vaccination campaign, 82% of citizens over the age of 12 have completed their cycle. The national figure stops at 73.72%. And Sardinia is also the first Italian region as regards the number of vaccinated people with two doses in the 12-19 age group: 79 thousand Sardinians have completed the cycle (over 72%), 7,046 have already taken the first dose.
Almost 6 thousand are those who have also received the third dose as part of the campaign that began a few days ago in hospitals and RSAs.
