He started a fire in his cell, then attacked the officers who were trying to help him, injuring five. It happened in the Uta prison and the complaint comes from the Uil Pa Polizia Penitenziaria.

"According to the reconstruction, the prisoner set fire to the furniture in the prison room - explains the union - The man then barricaded himself in the bathroom. The Penitentiary Police officers intervened and managed to break down the bathroom door to save the prisoner. The latter reacted violently, hitting the officers with kicks and punches. In the excitement of the moment, one officer was seriously injured, suffering a broken arm muscle. Four other officers suffered physical consequences, with respiratory crises due to the inhalation of toxic fumes and bruises caused by the kicks and punches inflicted by the prisoner. They too were transported to the hospital for checks and treatment".

For Michele Cireddu, general secretary of the Uil Pa Polizia Penitenziaria Sardegna, "it is unacceptable that our agents must operate in such dangerous contexts and with increasingly insufficient human and instrumental resources. This latest episode of violence highlights, once again, the urgent need for concrete interventions by the Government and the Penitentiary Administration to guarantee safety".
