Two men, a 30-year-old worker and a 29-year-old unemployed man, both residents of Soleminis, were arrested last night in Ussana, while attempting to set fire to two municipal vehicles parked in Piazza Municipio.

The arrested were surprised by the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile of the Dolianova Company, while they were dousing a Fiat Punto and a Fiat Grande Punto, both owned by the Municipality, with flammable liquid.

The two cars, which bore the municipal coat of arms and the insignia of the local police, were parked in front of the Town Hall, in a central area of the town, surrounded by houses and other vehicles.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the military, the two men were stopped before they could set fire to the cars, thus avoiding serious consequences.

During the searches, the men of the Arma found lighters and also a bag containing a dose of marijuana, in possession of one of the arrested. This led to the young man being reported to the Prefecture.

So, after the handcuffs, the two young men were tried by summary trial. The judge has for the moment ordered the release of the two arrested and the continuation of the investigations with them at liberty.

The mayor pro tempore of Ussana, who filed the complaint, confirmed that there had been no previous incidents of vandalism or acts of intimidation towards the Municipality.
