Perhaps for comfort, a 48-year-old woman, unemployed and suffering from serious health problems, made a small statue of the child Jesus dating back to the 18th century disappear from the church of San Sebastiano di Ussana.

The parish priest, however, noticed the theft, viewed the images of the internal video surveillance system and recognized the woman. Then he turned to the carabinieri.

The military then tracked down the 48-year-old while she was riding a bicycle in Donori, confronted her with her responsibility and recovered the statuette, returning it to the priest.

The latter, aware of the woman's problems, then decided not to formally file a complaint.
