An operation by Alpine and Speleological Rescue technicians in Urzulei to recover an injured hiker in Gorropu concluded at 10:00 PM yesterday. The 24-year-old Ukrainian woman was hiking through the canyon with her partner when, due to an ankle injury, she was unable to continue unaided. After the emergency operations center in Sassari called, 10 technicians from the Ogliastra, Nuoro, and Cagliari stations arrived on the scene, along with four members of the Guardia di Finanza Alpine Rescue team.
At the same time, the dispatch center also activated the Areus Echo Lima 1 helicopter based in Olbia, but due to the late hour, the mission could not be completed. However, the helicopter disembarked the technician on duty, who assisted the teams during the intervention. Once reached, the woman was stabilized and placed on a stretcher. She was then transported using a sedan chair to the parking lot, where an off-road vehicle awaited her. This transport took her to the Gorropu base camp. From there, she was transferred to the PAVS Urzulei ambulance for transport to the hospital.
