The political clash continues in Uri between the opposition and the majority. The subject of the dispute is, this time, the municipal cemetery .

"At the last meeting of the City Council - reads a note from the minority group "Tutti per Uri" led by Pierpaolo Risso - it was reported to Mayor Dettori and the Giunta that the "old" cemetery is inaccessible to the disabled and subjects with walking difficulties as the appropriate stairlift has not been functioning for some time now ». “Given the approaching holidays of 1 and 2 November – continues the minority – the opposition group called for a timely maintenance intervention so as to give everyone the possibility of being able to access independently to visit their deceased loved ones. Councilor Michele Fiori, recognizing the urgency and priority of this report, personally undertook to resolve the highlighted problem as soon as possible. Unfortunately, on the occasion of the aforementioned festivities, the bitter surprise, affixed to the freight elevator for the disabled, we found a sign forbidding its use as it was not working ».

"Despite the fact that two weeks had passed since the formal discussion in the City Council, despite the various reports (even verbal) complained by those directly concerned, it was not possible to intervene promptly , effectively preventing the categories more fragile than being able to visit loved ones. We understand that to date the situation has not changed. All of this is unacceptable. We believe that the much-vaunted policy of listening must be followed by interventions and initiatives ”.

The reply of the majority led by Mayor Emanuele Dettori arrives shortly: "As Assessor Fiori said in the Council, the majority takes its responsibilities, but there has been no lack on the part of the political body as one wants to do mean. The information should be given in a complete way: the malfunction was reported in time, but unfortunately the company in charge does not have a part of the mechanism that is needed to restart the cemetery stairlift and we are waiting for it to be found since not present in the island market”.

"In the same way - continues the majority -, alternative solutions are being studied for access to the cemetery and in the meantime, thanks to the obtaining of regional funding of 162 thousand euros, the boundary wall now compromised by time will be fixed : in the past no significant interventions were carried out in the cemetery in question. Unfortunately things sometimes break, despite the six-monthly reviews, and it's sad when this happens. As far as delicate situations of this kind are concerned, it would be good to avoid demagoguery and have a more sense of responsibility, something to which the group leader Risso and the minority group are not used to".
