Uras City Council still standing: TAR ruling doesn't stop resigning council members from fighting back.

The scenario could now be twofold. The resigning councilors could either appeal to the Council of State to overturn the TAR ruling dissolving the Uras City Council, or submit a new petition to the Region , given that the judges, in addition to declaring inadmissible the appeal filed by the seven resigning councilors requesting the Council's dissolution, also ruled that power in Sardinia lies with the Region.
This is the current situation in Uras following the publication of the Regional Administrative Court's ruling on December 23rd. Meanwhile, it is certain that Laura Dessì, Elena Caddeo, and Maria Grazia Ibba, the three citizens present at the City Council meeting on October 14th, which was convened without a quorum, will once again appeal to the Region. Their letter to the Department of Local Government, requesting intervention given the lack of a quorum when Mayor Samuele Fenu convened the Council for a replacement, was responded to by stating that "disputes concerning the legitimacy of measures adopted by local authorities must be referred to the competent administrative court."
" We feel like we're being mocked ," comments Laura Dessì. "First the Region wrote to us that it couldn't intervene, and then the Regional Administrative Court judges said the opposite. This is ridiculous. Now we'll send another letter to ask for an explanation from the official who wrote that the agency couldn't take any action."
The Region has yet to respond to a question from councilors Paolo Truzzu, Emanuele Cera, Fausto Piga, Antonello Floris, Maria Francesca Masala, Francesco Paolo Mula, Gianluigi Rubiu, Corrado Meloni, and Cristina Usai. They had requested a written response regarding the Council's failure to dissolve, following the simultaneous resignation of seven councilors on September 30th. Cera: "No response yet. Let's see what happens now, given that the matter falls to the Region."
