The Cagliari Coast Guard conducted a major inspection. The fines amounted to €14,000 and the seizure of 36 kilos of untraceable fish products . Yesterday, officers from the Cagliari Port Authority's Fisheries Control Center conducted a series of inspections in the Cagliari hinterland, inspecting a restaurant on the outskirts of Quartu, a fishmonger's shop in a Cagliari shopping center, and another in a nearby town.
The activity led to three administrative violations , one for each commercial establishment inspected. During the inspections, as stated in a Coast Guard statement, a total of 36 kilos of seafood were seized . In the restaurant, bluefin tuna and octopus were found without the necessary documentation to ensure their traceability. At the two fishmongers, however, bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus), baby octopus, red shrimp, deep-water rose shrimp, green-eyed shrimp, swordfish, and red mullet were seized, also without the required documentation.
Furthermore, in one of the fishmongers, two kilos of fish products sold past their expiration date were seized.
