"My client had no intention of killing; he acted during a fight with an armed man." Criminal lawyer Giampaolo Murrighile used these words today before the judges of the Sassari Assize Court, in his defense speech in the trial of Lurese worker Fabio Malu .

The man is accused of killing his rival Davide Unida in Luras in July 2023.

Murrighile contested the public prosecutor's reconstruction point by point and maintained that the victim was hit only once on the head (with a metal pipe).

The criminal lawyer asked the judges to consider the charge of manslaughter rather than aggravated homicide due to frivolous motives. The prosecutor had requested a life sentence for Malu; sentencing is scheduled for July 7.
