The unsafe state of provincial roads 15 and 17, damaged by construction work on the Tyrrhenian Link cables, resulting in significant disruption to motorists, a lack of refreshments, and a construction site schedule, was once again the topic of a meeting between Terna and the construction company, the mayors of the municipalities of Maracalagonis, Quartu, Sinnai, and Settimo.

A week ago, staff from Terna and the company carrying out the excavations acknowledged the discontent and demands of local administrators. In the last few hours, they were guests of the Metropolitan City, attended by engineer Paolo Mereu, an official from the same authority's Roads department . He brought to the guests' attention a list of critical issues that had emerged in recent months on the two provincial roads , which had become a nightmare, amid protests and disruptions repeatedly reported by the municipal administrations themselves.

Among the most obvious critical issues are the roadworks, with roadways more unsafe than usual, the lack of compensation for damage to the area, and the lack of a construction schedule . Paolo Mereu (also present was Lello Concu, Councilor for Roads for the Metropolitan City) reported on a previous meeting held with Terna and the company on September 11th, listing the critical issues and the mayors' requests. The meeting appeared to be marked by collaboration.

"The meetings of recent days," commented Quartu Mayor Graziano Milia, "have allowed us to make progress that bodes well for the future . In a collaborative atmosphere, the technical committee is working to find shared solutions, exactly what we asked for. We are comforted by the assurance that by June 2027, there will be no more construction sites on the SP17."

The mayor of Sinnai and deputy mayor of the metropolitan city, Barbara Pusceddu, expressed similar optimism: " The roads will be made safe, and we will have individual and periodic meetings with Terna and the company . We will have a construction schedule and the certainty of traffic controllers' availability to reduce traffic chaos."

Maracalagonis Mayor Francesca Fadda noted that " the Tyrrhenian Link cables will remain buried in our territory for 28 years . At this point, it's only natural to recognize an energy benefit for our residents in terms of electricity costs: we're trying." Fadda also called for "a traffic plan to avoid chaos and traffic jams during the work. Meetings regarding compensation and relief will begin tomorrow, based on actual needs."

Settimo Mayor Gigi Puddu recalls the damage to the area caused by the heavy traffic that has created in the town center, on Via Roma and Via San Salvatore, and in particular on the Su Pardu road. We are asking for safety and relief.

Meanwhile, work continues. The municipalities have announced regular meetings, including one-on-one meetings, with Terna and the contractor to continue on-site assessments . As Paolo Mereu emphasized, work will soon begin on repairing the road sections with obvious critical issues. All that remains is to wait and see.
