The person responsible for two aggravated robberies in the historic center of Sassari has been arrested by the local police . The information was released this morning at a press conference at the headquarters in via Carlo Felice by the commander of the local police Gianni Serra and Major Emanuele Fresi.

On Saturday evening , a young man, just of age, armed with a knife and wearing a balaclava, had stolen 100 euros from a grocery store on Via Università, threatening the employee at the cash register. The Municipal Police officers were immediately alerted and investigations began, which revealed that last Friday, another theft of 150 euros had been committed in the historic center using similar methods in another store in Sassari Vecchia.

At 9 pm, the officers of the urban security unit noticed a person, who corresponded to the description of the wanted person, and who had hidden near a minimarket. The young man, wearing a balaclava and a hood, entered the business and pointed the knife at the shopkeeper, who ran away into the street in fear . At that point the police entered and the 18-year-old, seeing himself discovered, tried to hide the weapon without success . Blocked and disarmed, he ended up arrested and taken to prison in Bancali.

The knife, balaclava, a tool for breaking car windows and a battery were seized. Investigations into Friday's event are still ongoing to determine who committed the theft.
