The Carabinieri of Olbia, with the support of the Cacciatori di Sardegna helicopter squadron, arrested two farmers from Arzachena, caught cutting down numerous marijuana plants and loading them into a van they owned. Giovanni Maria Cuccu, 58, and his brother Alessandro, 48, were arrested.

During the operation, a large plantation consisting of approximately 1,500 indica hemp plants in various stages of maturity was identified in the "Sa Raiola" area.

During the searches, at a farmhouse in the countryside of Sant'Antonio di Gallura, they found one kilo of cocaine and 8.5 kilos of hashish, ready for the market, semi-finished marijuana intended for processing, and various explosive materials, including a detonating fuse and perfectly functioning quarry detonators.

The large plantation, if brought to market, would have generated several million euros, fueling drug trafficking on the island. The entire judicial police operation was coordinated and directed by the Public Prosecutor of Tempio Pausania, Gregorio Capasso.

The arrested are being defended by lawyers Giovanni Azzena and Gianfranco Grussu , who are not making any statements while waiting to read the investigation documents.
