A large cannabis cultivation was discovered in the Assemini countryside by the Falcons of the Cagliari Flying Squad.

Two men, aged 54 and 58, both residents of Assemini, were arrested on charges of drug production.

The operation was launched after investigators identified a rural property that was the scene of a suspicious coming and going.

The officers then decided to conduct an inspection, discovering a cannabis cultivation greenhouse with thousands of plants. Laboratory tests revealed THC concentrations of 6.1%, 5%, and 5.4%, respectively. The investigators then proceeded to uproot and count the entire crop. A total of 8,800 plants were seized, all systematically arranged inside the greenhouse, which also had an irrigation system. The total quantity seized amounted to nearly 50 kg. At the end of the operation, the two men found inside the plantation were arrested red-handed and, by order of the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office, transferred to the Uta prison to await a validation hearing.
