Green light from December 1st to the initiatives of the Turritano Christmas that for all the Christmas holidays will animate the city of Porto Torres with events designed to create a joyful atmosphere capable of satisfying adults and children. Also for 2024, in fact, the municipal administration promotes a rich calendar organized in collaboration with associations, cooperatives, traders and private citizens.

The varied proposal that brings together over 30 events including concerts and shows, exhibitions, workshops, literary meetings, awards, urban trekking, parades, food and wine events and solidarity initiatives, will continue until Epiphany, demonstrating the desire of the territory to work synergistically to make Porto Torres a city capable of involving citizens and attracting visitors from other centers in order to enter a sort of Christmas tourism circuit that can increase the economic benefits in the territory.

The Christmas proposal includes traditional events such as the “Miracle of Christmas”, the “New Year’s Dive”, “La Befana in Piazza” and many others. Numerous initiatives promoted by the municipal library, starting from the promotional reading campaign “Give yourself a gift! Get a book in the library” which will start on December 1st up to the numerous events linked by the common thread of the tree as a symbol of Christmas and of a nature that seeks to safeguard its sustainability. The first of the great classic events is scheduled for December 6th with the Urban Trekking “Turris-Torres-Porto Torres” organized by the Historical Memory which manages the municipal tourist office.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the guides, tell anecdotes, show photos, read stories and therefore contribute firsthand to the construction of the visit. But the city will be immersed in the Christmas atmosphere starting from December 2nd also thanks to the artisanal wrought iron nativity scene, set up by the Pro Loco until January 8th near the covered walk in via Mare.

The following day, December 7, will be the turn of the highly anticipated “Christmas Parade” organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the city’s schools, the Botteghe Turritane Natural Shopping Center and the Elves of the Intragnas association, with the participation of participants dressed as Disney mascots. It will start at 4:00 pm from Piazza Umberto I. While in the evening at 9:00 pm at the Teatro comunale “Andrea Parodi” the show “Pinocchio” by StudioDanza will be performed. On the day of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, an intense day full of events is scheduled. Starting at 3:00 pm in Piazza Umberto I the Pro Loco, Intragnas and Etnos associations will prepare, respectively, chestnuts and mulled wine, polenta, fritters and crepes while the Cngei and Agesci scouts will set up the Christmas market. After the performance of the ASD Moving Soul dance school by Roberta Valente, scheduled for 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, the Christmas Tree will be lit up and immediately afterwards it will be the turn of the Black Soul Gospel Choir concert. In the conference room of the Port Museum, the delightful Santa Claus house will be inaugurated, curated by the Ludolandia association, while in Piazza Colombo, the Aragonese Tower and the nearby boat, symbols of the city and its maritime traditions will be illuminated, the first, with projections of the auspicious figures for the new year, the rotating snowflake, the nativity scene, the comet star and the Befana on the broom and the artistic lighting of the second will be curated by VideoSound with the collaboration of Asso.Ve.La. Meanwhile, in Piazza Martiri Turritani in front of the Basilica of San Gavino, the fascinating wooden nativity scene will be inaugurated with its 2-meter statues created by Fabrizio Budroni in collaboration with Giacomo Rum and the Parish. This year too it will be enriched with new characters. The square will also host the welcoming nativity scene.

The Christmas program will also include the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the National Antiquarium Turritano museum, organized by the Regional Directorate of Museums of Sardinia, which include meetings, conferences and exhibitions. The “Turritana dell'anno” Award, organized by Fidapa BPW Italy - Porto Torres Section, is also back. This is the award, now in its third edition, aimed at celebrating a woman who, born or adopted in Turritano, has distinguished herself in the fields of the arts, professions, business but also in the social field, as well as in the associative or sports field.

The first lighting of the Christmas lights along the city streets is scheduled for December 6th and will proceed with the lighting of the lights in the historic center and in the various city districts. In the Town Hall square a new 8-meter accessible tree will be set up with an internal sofa.

Also this year the competition “Presepi Per la Città 2024 – in memoriam Vincenzo Camoglio” returns, dedicated to the luminous Christmas decorations set up outside private homes (balconies, facades and courtyards) and in the windows of the city's commercial activities.
