Calangianus and Sant'Antonio di Gallura have joined forces to oppose the new wind farm project presented in Cagliari by the Ferrara-based company Trynyty srl. Mayors Fabio Albieri and Carlo Viti are in complete agreement, rejecting the construction of wind turbines on the large site, adjacent to the Sant'Antonio industrial zone. Carlo Viti has taken a stand based on information gathered by a consultant working for the municipality, saying: "This development is very concerning to us. We are working, with a consultant, to oppose this project in all venues and with all legal means available."
One thing should be emphasized: the wind turbines will have a significant impact on the landscape of our area, but also on that of Olbia and Telti. This concerns six towers that Trynyty intends to build in an area of high environmental value. The company writes in the permit application documents: "The inevitable visual impact of the wind turbines will fit harmoniously into an already partially altered context."
These assessments are considered unacceptable by the local authorities. The mayor of Calangianus, Fabio Albieri, noted the presence of a historic farmhouse protected by the Regional Landscape Plan near one of the 120-meter-tall towers. Trynyty herself has submitted another project for a four-tower park, called Valentino, spanning the Tempio and Aglientu districts.
