«Chemtrails». This is the most recurring combination of words this morning on the social profiles of many Sardinians, commenting on a deluge of photos depicting the phenomena reported from numerous areas of the island: from Barbagia, from Oristano, from Ogliastra and from Cagliari. What attracted attention was the shape: not straight white lines in the sky, but circles, “scribbles”, spirals.

What is certain is that these are contrails, certainly not "chemical": they are traces of condensation left at high altitude by T346s and Eurofighters of the Italian Air Force during an air exercise session that has its epicenter at the Decimomannu base. At the yoke of the former were pilots from the flight school in training, coming from various nations. On the latter flew already trained professionals, all Italian.

The explanation for the “strange” phenomenon that has attracted so much attention comes from General Davide Cipelletti, commander of the Air Force Command for the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and of the Pisq of Perdasdefogu: «They are simple condensation trails», he specifies, crushing any conspiracy theory, «which with the weather conditions of these hours have been particularly visible». And about the shape? «Those of airliners are straight», warns the general, «the ones seen today are the result of maneuvers that are carried out by pilots in training».

These are not isolated sightings: «The vison school has only recently opened», underlines Cipelletti, «from now on it could happen more and more often».

In short: the military servitudes present in Sardinia leave traces (not chemical) also in the sky.
