A tragic head-on crash occurred this afternoon on the SP 5 highway near Aglientu. Gerolamo Pirodda, an 88-year-old farmer and resident of the town, lost his life in the accident.

According to initial reports, his Panda crossed into the oncoming lane as another vehicle was approaching. It's possible the collision was caused by the elderly man's illness.

The Carabinieri of the Tempio Mobile Radio unit intervened on site to carry out surveys, together with the firefighters who removed the destroyed vehicles and secured the area.

Two other injured people, who were travelling in the other car, were assisted by 118: three ambulances intervened.
