A tragic accident shocked the community of Orgosolo last night. Battista Mele, a 41-year-old farmer originally from Orgosolo, was found lifeless by his wife inside the Sologi farm, in the countryside of Galtellì. This is yet another tragedy at work.

According to initial reports, Mele was violently hit by a horse that kicked him, throwing him against a wall . The impact left him no escape. The alarm was raised by his family, worried about his failure to return home and suspicious of his sudden silence. Once they arrived on site, they made the tragic discovery.

The Carabinieri and the 118 medical staff intervened on the scene, and could do nothing but confirm the death . The preliminary investigations would confirm the hypothesis of an accident, but the body was transferred anyway for the usual medical-legal examinations.

The news has deeply shocked the community and Orgosolo, where Battista Mele was well known and esteemed for his commitment in the livestock sector . He is the nephew of Don Antonio Maria Cossu, known to all as Don Totoni.
